The most graphic version of the Saturnino. A black crystal sphere resting within a clear crystal ring the two extremes of the color spectrum in crystal, maximum contrast at minimum scale. In the black and clear combination, the Saturnino reads as a pure compositional object: the opaque black sphere against the transparent ring creates a visual precision that is almost architectural the sphere as solid, the ring as void, the balance between them physical and exact. Ring diameter 20 cm, sphere diameter 10 cm, total 2 kg. The sphere sits in the ring balanced by weight alone no adhesive, no mechanical connection. The black crystal of the sphere has a smooth, highly reflective surface that mirrors the room around it in miniature, a small convex dark mirror at the center of the clear ring. Functions as a flower vase when the sphere is lifted and stood upright. Each crystal is mouth-blown into an original cast iron mould from a historic Italian glassware workshop active since 1945 each shape comes to life through a single breath.
