The most formally radical object in the entire Studio Bojola collection. The Saturno is not a vase with a cap it is a large clear crystal ring and a craquelé sphere that are balanced together by their own weight, with no mechanical connection between them: the sphere sits within the ring and is held in place by gravity and the careful calibration of their respective weights. The craquelé sphere crystal globe with a network of internal fracture lines created by plunging the hot glass into cold water during the blowing process rests in the ring with a precision that makes the object appear simultaneously precarious and permanent. When the sphere is lifted out and placed upright, it functions as a small spherical flower vase the opening at its top accepting a single stem. The ring, freed, becomes a circular crystal sculpture in its own right. At H 27 cm, sphere diam. 10 cm and 2.5 kg total. Each crystal is mouth-blown into an original cast iron mould from a historic Italian glassware workshop active since 1945 each shape comes to life through a single breath.· Material: crystal glass — European standard EN 69· Technique: Hand-blown, craquelé sphere (thermal shock during blowing process)· Structure: Two-piece — ring + craquelé sphere, balanced by weight (no mechanical connection)· Dimensions: H 27 cm, sphere diam. 10 cm· Weight: 2.5 kg total· Colours: Clear (standard), also available in Amber· Function: Sculptural object + flower vase (sphere used independently)· Workshop: Active since 1945, Tuscany — Italy· Collection: Cristallo Vases — Studio Bojola
