Together with the Erice, the Licata is one of the two heaviest vases in the collection. At H 36 cm, diam. 22 cm and 8 kg of pure crystal, it is a substantial, wide-shouldered vase with a generous opening for large flower compositions. Where the Erice is pure in its forms, the Licata has a more clearly architectural character its proportions suggesting a classical urn, the rounded cap sitting like a dome on the wide body. In clear crystal, the Licata is a transparent architectural object; in pink or amber, it becomes a vessel of concentrated colour. The rounded cap, when lifted, functions as an independent vase. Each crystal is mouth-blown into an original cast iron mould from a historic Italian glassware workshop active since 1945 each shape comes to life through a single breath.· Material: crystal glass — European standard EN 69· Technique: Hand-blown, mouth-blown into original cast iron moulds· Structure: Two-piece — rounded cap, vase· Dimensions: H 36 cm, diam. 22 cm· Weight: 8 kg of pure crystal· Colours: Clear (standard), Pink, Amber· Cap: Becomes an independent flower vase when removed· Workshop: Active since 1945, Tuscany — Italy· Collection: Cristallo Vases — Studio Bojola
