Named for the coquille Saint-Jacques the pilgrim's shell, symbol of journey and arrival. The SaintJacques in the Natura Naturante collection takes a form derived from the ribbed fan of the scallop shell and transforms it through the ceramic process into a vessel that combines the organic with the architectural. The form was born from redesigning, cutting and reassembling the original moulds of a historic three-generation ceramics workshop in Tuscany a process Studio Bojola describes as being like a shell sheltering a sunken vase at the bottom of the sea, melting with it to create a new shape. In Var. Profondo, the deep navy patina is applied by hand, creating variations in tone darker in the recesses of the ribbing, lighter on the ridges that map the form's topography in colour. A sculptural object as much as a vessel.· Material: Hand-modelled ceramic· Technique: Hand-modelled from historic moulds, hand-patinated· Finish: Var.
